Priscilla Busulwa
Lawyer and Legal Consultant, Impact Investments
Duo-qualified Barrister (England & Wales) and Advocate (Uganda) with diverse experience in corporate and commercial Law, particularly banking and finance at both a local and international level. After working in two Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 Top Tier law firms, Priscilla worked as a Senior Legal Associate at an IFLR-ranked boutique law firm in Kampala specializing in corporate finance, private equity & mergers and acquisitions.
Priscilla has supported multinational banks, domestically domiciled and international investment funds, development finance institutions (DFIs), NGOs, and various companies (from SMEs to multinational corporations) across a range of jurisdictions from East Africa (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania), the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia), Central Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo), West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast), Southern Africa (South Africa and Zambia), the Middle East (UAE & Bahrain), the United States, Europe (Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom).
Having scored a Distinction in her LLM with her research paper focusing on the role of the law in enhancing corporate governance for SMEs, Priscilla has a keen interest in access to finance and impact investment initiatives targeting small – medium enterprises. In addition to her legal practice, Priscilla has also worked as a research consultant to a Justice of the High Court of Uganda and continues to volunteer as an advisor at Khulani Capital (https://khulani.org/) a pioneering startup advisory firm in Uganda offering free strategy, governance, risk, finance, and general corporate advisory services to startups. With her passion for supporting small businesses, financial inclusion and private sector development, Priscilla is largely motivated by uncovering pragmatic approaches to problem-solving, particularly on the African continent.
