Usama Mukwaya

Usama ‘Osam’ Mukwaya is a multi-award-winning Ugandan filmmaker and entrepreneur. He is notable for his films Bala Bala Sese (2015) which was nominated for the African Movie Academy Awards, Rehema (2017) a short film that premiered at Durban International Film Festival, his latest award-winning directory debut – Love Faces (2018), and acclaimed television series Kyaddala.

He has worked as a General Secretary and Treasurer Screenwriter’s guild of Uganda Film Network. Usama is also the Founder of O Studios Entertainment, a multimedia production company that has produced numerous successful local and international films with the recent being Love Faces.

The Maisha Film Lab Alumnus and previous Young achievers award winner in the film television category was recently appointed as the Director Content Acquisition for Stream Afrique, a video streaming platform specializing in African content.

Usama is passionate about how creativity has an influence on social, cultural, and economic environments and how to use narratives to design tomorrow’s Africa.
